Characteristics of Success

These are the soft skills or sometimes called the mindsets and behaviors, demonstrated by employers who have found success in a particular role. These 'video definitions' are intended to set a framework for the job candidate for the application and importance of the soft skill. After completing the short film, they respond to a series of assessment questions that help us determine how they index for the skill.

ACTIVE LISTENING

Communication technique that requires the listener fully concentrate, understand, respond, and then remember what is being said.

COLLABORATION

Working with another person or team to produce or create something.

Critical Thinking

Actively and skillfully conceptualizing, applying, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to reach an answer/conclusion.

DEPENDABILITY

Being able to be counted on or relied upon, always doing everything that you say you will do and never make promises you cannot keep.

INITIATIVE 

Power or opportunity to act or take charge before others do.

PERSISTENCE

Continuance of a course of action in spite of difficulty or opposition.

RESILIENCE

Capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.

SELF CONTROL

Capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness

SERVICE ORIENTATION 

Making customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions.

STRESS TOLERANCE

Ability to be relaxed and composed when faced with difficulties.

ADAPTABILITY

Quality of being able to adjust to new conditions.

 

CLEAR COMMUNICATION

Stating needs & preferences using words/behavior that convey meaning successfully.

CURIOSITY

Strong desire to know or learn something.

EMPATHY

Ability to understand and share the feelings of another.

NEGOTIATION

Discussion aimed at reaching an agreement.

PERSUASION

Action or fact of convincing someone to do or believe something.

SELF RELIANCE 

Leveraging one's powers & resources to accomplish tasks rather than wait for others.

SENSE OF URGENCY

Insistence in driving action on important matters without losing sight of quality.

SOCIAL INTELLIGENCE

Ability to get along well with others and get them to cooperate with you .Includes understanding social situations and the ability to “read the room.”

Provide great care and attention to detail. Completeness of work.
